Justin Timberlake A Favourite For ‘Dirty Dancing’ ReMake
Dirty Dancing is coming back to the big screen! The 1987 classic which starred the late Patrick Swayze as ‘Johnny Castle’ and Jennifer Grey as ‘Baby’ will be choreographed by Kenny Ortega, the same man who made the original such a big hit.
It’s yet to be decided what fresh faced stars will step into Swayze and Grey’s shoes but Irish bookmaker Paddy Power has already pin pointed their favourites to star in the remake.
Sexy Back singer turned very successful actor, Justin Timberlake, is the 3/1 favourite to be cast as hip swaying Johnny but he faces stiff competition from champion dancer, actor and rumoured ex beau of Cheryl Cole Derek Hough at 8/1.
Other names being bandied about to play dance teacher Johnny include professional dancer Kenny Wormald at 10/1 and Justin Bieber at 20/1.
As for who will play the part of smitten ‘Baby’, Easy A star Emma Stone is the 5/1 favourite with Paddy Power followed by Glee’s Lea Michele at 8/1 and Miley Cyrus further down the list at 16/1. Irish actress Saoirse Ronan is 20/1.
Sharon McHugh, spokesperson for Paddy Power said: “We’d rather see this classic movie left untouched but if there’s going to be a remake then they’ll need to find cast that can do it justice.
“JT is not only a very sexy mover but he has also proved he’s a talented actor too while Emma has that same cuteness and likeability factor that endeared so many people to Jennifer Grey.”

Justin Believes He Would Have Been Successful Without NSYNC
Though he rose to prominence as a member of the boy band N’Sync, Justin Timberlake thinks he would have been just fine without them.
“I don’t want this to come out the wrong way,” he told Elle magazine. “It was an amazing platform but even without it, I believe I would have been heard as a solo artist.”
Timberlake also says that, post N’Sync, he was surprised by the freedom given to him by his record label when recording his first two solo albums, 2002′s Justified and 2006′s Future Sex/Lovesounds.
“I don’t know why they let me do that. But I hadn’t come out of nowhere. People had preconceptions and I didn’t want to be misunderstood. I’ve learned that people have preconceptions, period. They’re uncontrollable but they’re not who you are.”

‘Friends’ Benefits from Timberlake

By Gary Thompson
Philadelphia Daily News
Daily News Film CriticJustin Timberlake is like the model in that shampoo commercial who begged us not to hate her because she’s beautiful.
I try not to resent Mr. Timberlake, but it’s difficult. Seriously, how much good fortune can attach itself to one guy?
‘N Sync (‘N Sync!) makes him a multimillionaire by the time he’s 20, and instead of doing the accepted thing – blowing it all on drugs and rehab, then aging rapidly and prematurely – he keeps touring and getting richer.
And instead of dating porn stars or Courtney Love, he goes out with awesome women, one after the other. He ditches a girl like Cameron Diaz as if there’s always going to be a Jessica Biel right around the corner . . . and there is!
Then he starts making movies, and that’s a good thing, because you know like most singers-turned-actors, he’s going to fall flat on his face, and then “Black Snake Moan” and “Social Network” come out and . . . he’s really good.
And that’s not even the worst part.
The worst part?
He’s like a two handicap.
A two!
What’s next?
A rom-com with Hollywood’s most adorable/sexy starlet?
Yes. He and Mila Kunis, in “Friends With Benefits,” is another version of the comedy in which two single friends vow to have convenient sex without the mess of emotional attachment.
The movie is much more sexually candid than “No Strings Attached,” and the chemistry between the leads much better. Remember Natalie Portman kissing Ashton Kutcher in that movie? She looked like a bird eating seeds off Kutcher’s face.
Timberlake and Kunis are helped by a screenplay with an avalanche of one-liners. Timberlake gets exposed a little here over 98 minutes, but he’s made a smart move, picking a light comedy script that didn’t ask for too much and has enough glib patter to keep his character energized.
Kunis does most of the heavy lifting – her character secretly wants more from the relationship, and Kunis is able to show this without saying it.
The movie’s instinct for the cute line is a weakness at times. Patricia Clarkson (shades of “Easy A”) is another kooky, gabbing TMI adult, playing Kunis’ mom.
“Friends With Benefits” is certainly predictable, but confronts the limitations of rom-com formula head on. Like the upcoming “Crazy Stupid Love,” it has its characters poke fun at the requirements of the genre, then conform to them, creating a meta-joke.
In “Friends” this takes the form of a movie-within-a-movie, providing some laughs for Rashida Jones and a (portly!) Jason Segel.

Justin Timberlake Makes A Run At Sci-Fi
Justin Timberlake is now a quadruple threat: acting, singing, dancing and running.
Amanda Seyfried and Justin Timberlake live in a world where time really is money, and running out of time means death.
In the sci-fi thriller In Time (out Oct. 28), Timberlake plays Will, a working-class everyman who runs to get his coffee and to get to work on time. And he has to go on the run with a woman named Sylvia (Amanda Seyfried) when he’s falsely accused of a murder.
Though it may sound like a cookie-cutter thriller, In Time differs from the norm with a near-future dystopian world created by writer/director Andrew Niccol where moving quickly is a necessity and time literally is money.
The aging gene turns off at age 25, and Will wakes up with a day left on his clock. If he doesn’t go to work and make more time, he’ll die.
“It’s an interesting hypothesis: If you only had a day of time left, how do you spend it? It makes for a very exciting, thrilling story,” Timberlake says.
All decisions made in the movie were based on time, even fashion. Niccol says there are “time zones” that have nothing to do with geography. “In the poor zones, everyone has zippers because you need fast fashion. But in the rich zones, someone would have 20 buttons down their shirt almost as a sign of their wealth.
“The greatest crime in this society is really not taking someone else’s time but giving time away because it completely upsets the system.”
Niccol enjoyed introducing Seyfried to sci-fi. “She’s often played the victim or the girl next door. I think it’s time to see Amanda sticking guns in people’s faces.”
Timberlake, who will appear at Comic-Con to talk about the film, has been mostly cast as a comedic actor in movies, but his turn in The Social Network convinced Niccol he was the right leading man.
“You might find yourself actually saying ‘Justin Timberlake, action star,’” Niccol says. “He is an actor and he hasn’t done an action film. But make no mistake: He can do it.”
Timberlake isn’t ready to label himself the second coming of Jason Statham, even with car chases and running on foot from the law. He says his job was simply imbuing heart into this kind of cerebral film.
“It was a mind trip for sure, but it was a lot of fun to immerse yourself in the world.”
